Sheryl McCalla
Sheryl brings to the Lupus Initiative a strong reputation for developing strategic, creative processes and programs. An attorney by training, Sheryl practiced law for nineteen years. Her substantial legal experience has included service as outside general counsel to a historically Black, primary-care-focused medical school and counsel to individual physicians. She has significant experience creating and managing programs focused on increasing cultural, racial and gender diversity and sensitivity, and awareness of disparities. She has managed a large law firm’s inaugural diversity initiative and later served as its Director of Diversity. Additionally, she has played pivotal roles in creating organizational structure, establishing direction and purpose, and guiding organizational growth and programming for non-profit, diversity-focused organizations.
