Lisa Amaker
Lisa Amaker, Director, Lupus Initiative holds a Bachelor of Arts in Women’s Studies/Africana Studies from Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia and has been with the ACR since 2008. Prior to her role as the Director of the Lupus Initiative, Ms. Amaker was the director of administration and governance at the ACR. Working closely with the ACR Board of Directors and senior leadership, Ms. Amaker honed her skills in association management at an executive level. Lisa Amaker developed and implemented continuing medical education for physicians and lay-persons at academic institutions, non-profit entities and private companies for over 14 years.
At ivy-league medical schools and at medical education companies in the northeast and the Atlanta metro area, Ms. Amaker’s projects in medical education included an 18-month multi-city educational partnership with a national arthritis organization; the first national breast cancer patient-education initiative targeting urban women; an innovative schizophrenia activity for physicians, health professionals, patient and their families.
Additionally, Lisa collaborated with the National Medical Association and a renowned non-profit foundation, to develop a patient-education campaign, supported by community-based outreach programs, for the prevention of asthma in adolescents of color in urban settings.
Ms. Amaker also holds local and national memberships in professional organizations and maintains relationships with former colleagues in continuing medical and nursing education throughout the country. Lisa Amaker sits on the Alumnae Board of Agnes Scott College, in Decatur Georgia.
